Peechelba Beef

Peechelba Beef is the largest feedlot in the Southern Hemisphere

Environment

At Peechelba Beef, the pens are cleaned constantly with a team of people solely dedicated to this task.

Housing many animals in an intensive feeding program requires careful management of manure. The pens are cleaned regularly and the manure is composted, dried and screened. The resultant material is sold to gardeners and farmers as an excellent source of fertiliser.

The feedlot license requires that no untreated animal waste or effluent leaves the site and composted manures and treated liquid waste are used extensively at the feedlot to grow quality forages like hay and silage.
